On Obama's Faith
June 24, 2008:
If you treat others the way you would want to be treated and you are going about doing good, let me tell you, that is a righteous life. IT IS SO HARD TO LIVE EACH DAY THAT WAY. And if you do, I think our human frailties are forgiven.
I would much rather face my creator being a loving, kind, and forgiving gay, than I would a judgmental, harsh, condemning fundamentalist any day of the week. We are not called to sort out the details; we are only called to love. And loving is a better witness than any political Christian manipulation--I mean coalition.
Remember, Jesus rejected the cause of the zealots of his time, asserting that his "kingdom" was not of this world. Not only that, I have never seen where it says in the bible that we have to annoy for Jesus. In fact he said that we will be forgiven to the same extent that we forgive others. What is so hard to understand about that? However--it is hard to live that way, which is why I try to do a lot of forgiving.
Obama has it right and the proof is that:
A good tree will not bear bad fruit, nor will a bad tree bear good fruit.
Though good and bad are subjective--take a look at the fruits of a Republican leadership for the last 7+ years. Enough said.
