Bottom Fish Kool-Aid?
Wow. Talk about consistency—and Kool-aid. Ok, I admit it, I’m a blogger/talking-head junkie, but I am also an English teacher, citizen, mom, and a bunch of other identities that all are all concerned with caring—caring about the many connections that our world has to not only me, but my family, my students, my community and my country. However, the one thing I do not care about is bombastic preachers who say bombastic things. Now when a candidate states something that reflects their lack of judgment—well, that is different. And when Obama spoke of the bitterness of displaced, struggling citizens “clinging to their guns and religion” I can understand their offence; for when I am feeling “bitter” about things, as a mom or as a teacher, the LAST thing I want someone to say—especially an outsider—is that I’m bitter, even if I am. I understand that; although I do think the press a bit like flies on…oh never mind. But if you think that this means that I want to be blasted with the “CONNECTIONS” of my candidate to any loose mouth that he happens to know, you are woefully mistaken. ARE YOU KIDDING ME!?! Now we expect our presidents to not know anyone who does not think before they say things? And what gets me is that many of these same people went on and on about how Clinton didn’t REALLY mean to bring up assasination in the context of a reason to be staying on in this campaign. My only conclusion to this madness is that you are striving to appeal to the bottom fish of our country. Please bump it up a notch and start talking about the legislation that Obama is trying to push through that would stop the designation of our post traumatic stress soldiers as having personality disorders and then being denied their rightfully deserved benefits. We do not want Kool-aid and we are not all bottom fish. Stop it.
