The Timelessness of Fascism

This quote comes from a website about Mohandas K.Gandhi, in a section about his assassination. I have been studying him for a class I'm taking titled, Equity and Justice. I am ashamed of my previous lack of knowledge about this amazing holy man; however I am determined to remind those I teach of his philosophy of honesty. Though I am no Gandhi, nor could I ever be, I have been touched by his ethos of love and the quote I have selected from this website simply throws down the dichotomous gauntlet of political ideologies. Considering this statement in the light of our nation's stewardship over the last 7 years, is an eye opener.

"A civil society is wedded to the democratic method of resolving differences by a frank and open debate and evolving a working consensus. Gandhi was always open to persuasion. Gandhi had invited Godse for discussions but the later did not avail of this opportunity given to him. This is indicative of the lack of faith in democratic way of resolving differences on the part of Godse and his ilk. Such fascist mindset seeks to do away with dissent by liquidating the opponents" (http://www.mkgandhi.org/assassin.htm).
